At EEM, social value is a huge part of what we do. As a not-for-profit organisation, we are deeply committed to empowering communities, fostering well-being, and creating opportunities that have a meaningful and lasting impact.

This year, mental health has been a key area of focus, exemplified by our partnership with ANDYSMANCLUB – a charity dedicated to reducing male suicide by offering safe, supportive spaces for men to talk.

This news post highlights the social value achievements of 2024, celebrating the inspiring stories and successes that have emerged from our efforts. This would not have been possible without our members and supply chain, the dedication of our employees, and the strategic guidance of our Board of Directors who ensure social value remains at the core of our vision.

COMMUNITY DONATIONS - £625,000

Our Community Donations scheme is our largest social value initiative, where we distribute our operating surplus back to our members. These donations are split proportionally between members, based on their spend through EEM in the previous financial year. Suppliers spend on materials through our supply chain for contracts with EEM members also contributes to members' Community Donations.
Since 2015, we have given away over £2.6m. In 2024 alone, we distributed £625,000 back to 158 of our members. These funds have translated into more than financial support; they’ve helped build resilience, nurture growth, and strengthen connections in the communities we serve.

CHARITY FUNDRAISING

ANDYSMANCLUB
Mental health has been a particular focus for us this year, through our partnership with ANDYSMANCLUB – an organisation dedicated to reducing male suicide by providing supportive community spaces.
As our Charity of the Year, ANDYSMANCLUB were celebrated at our Building Communities Awards 2024 ceremony back in March, where we managed to raise £51,000 for them through event surplus and fundraising on the night.
In June, six members of the EEM Team took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, which involved a gruelling 24-mile trek through Yorkshire’s three tallest peaks; Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent in under 12 hours. The team managed to raise a whopping £5,291.25 for ANDYSMANCLUB on this challenge.

In total, ANDYSMANCLUB have received £61,951 in total from EEM this year.

BREAST CANCER NOW
Simone Dickens, one of our amazing Member Support Officers, decided to put on a fundraising event for a charity that is very close to her heart, Breast Cancer Now.
We organised an Afternoon Tea event, where we invited all of our local members, supply chain, and other businesses to come along to the office and donate in exchange for some tea and cake!
The EEM Team all contributed homemade goods for us to sell, and we managed to raise an incredible £420 for Breast Cancer Now.

CHRISTMAS COMMUNITY EVENT
In December, we are planning to host our first Christmas Community Event, where we are inviting our local members, supply chain, and the local community to join us in a festive get-together, involving snacks, games, and a visit from Santa!
We are also using this event as an opportunity to raise money and donations for two of our local foodbanks, Bassetlaw Food Bank and the South Normanton Area Food Bank.

DONATIONS

John Eastwood Hospice
EEM had unused desks and chairs which were in perfect condition, so we offered them to a local hospice who gratefully accepted them to spruce up their office.

George & Annette Trust
For the second year running, our Head of Operations, Louisa Payne, played in the Bell Group charity match, and EEM donated £150 to the George & Annette Trust on the day.

My Sight – Worksop
EEM contributed a raffle prize donation for raising money to fund the social support group in Worksop.

Rhubarb Farm
EEM donated £5,000 to support the great work they do and to show our ongoing support. We also donated a laptop to Rhubarb Farm, as they were struggling with only having access to one.

Ride for Freedom – Anti-Slavery Week
Four members of the EEM Team took part in a charity event hosted by one of the companies on our business estate, where they each cycled for 15 minutes to raise money and awareness for Anti-Slavery Week.

Action for Children
EEM donated £100 to Action for Children’s Secret Santa campaign to provide warm bedding and stocking of gifts for a child.

SPONSORSHIP

EEM sponsored Blidworth Ladies FC’s new season home kit in August, providing them with £800.

As we look ahead to 2025 and beyond, our commitment to expanding our social impact grows stronger. We are inspired by the potential to make an even greater difference and are excited to continue creating lasting, positive change in the communities we proudly serve.
